  • A 2-year specialised medical education program under the pharmacological science stream, Master in Pharmacy in Biopharmaceutics. M.Pharm - Biopharmaceutics or Master in Pharmacy is a Biopharmaceutics postgraduate Pharmacy course. Biopharmaceutics is the study that how the pharmaceutical expression of certain drugs can impact their pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic behavior. The large majority of biopharmaceutical products are pharmaceuticals that are derived from life forms. A potentially controversial method of producing biopharmaceuticals involves transgenic organisms, particularly plants and animals that have been genetically modified to produce drugs.

     

    Hence the role of biopharmaceutics and pharmacokinetics is an indispensable part in getting safe and more efficacious drugs with reduced development time and cost. The course is designed to provide skills to the prospective students in core domain areas of Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics relevant to present day pharmaceutical industry with better employment opportunities. Students pursuing this program specialise in Modern Bioanalytical Techniques: Bioanalytical method validation; BA/BE studies; GLP and GCP. Biopharmaceutics: ADME characteristics; in vitro-in vivo correlation. Pharmacokinetics: Basic pharmacokinetic parameters; compartmental and non-compartmental analysis. Applied Pharmacokinetics: Pre-Clinical development; Toxicology; Clinical pharmacology etc.
